HAGERSTOWN, MD (WDVM) – You have only a few weeks left to see the best of local artistic talent in the area.
The Washington County Council for the Arts sponsors its annual “The Best” Local Art Exhibition with more than 100 original and colorful paintings, photographs and sculptures. 50 artists have exhibitions in the gallery with cash prizes presented for works deemed best in the exhibition and in other design categories. The exhibits can also be viewed virtually.
The artwork was submitted last summer for this holiday exhibition. Judges this year are Sarah Hall of the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts and Booth Wilder, a nationally recognized photographer who lives in Washington County. Mary Anne Burke of the Washington County Council for the Arts says the area is teeming with remarkable creations in the arts community.
“It’s all local talent, and by local I mean Washington County and regional because we’re so close to Pennsylvania and West Virginia,” Burke said. “People are just amazed at the talent.”
The gallery is located a short walk from Hagerstown Public Square at 34 South Potomac Street. Exhibition hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
