AVON, Ohio – Creative Space Avon, an art gallery located at 33760 Lear Industrial Parkway, opened in 2015 as Creative Space Avon and More.
The ‘plus’ really came to life in a new way at the cozy art gallery owned by Judy Kean, which regularly exhibits the work of many local artists.
Kean was contacted by Drew Hosler of North Ridgeville. He wanted to rent out his gallery space to propose the wedding to his girlfriend, Alley Rohde, on December 23.
Hosler got a photographer (conveniently, his brother) who, Kean said, hid in the toilet before exiting “to take the intimate ‘I want it’ photo.”
Hosler also recruited friends to meet him at the gallery with photos of the bride and groom to decorate the walls and flower petals to sprinkle.
“I provided all of the backdrops and props to host a ‘snowflake / snowman’ holiday event as a reason why Drew will be bringing his fiancee to the gallery,” Kean said prior to the proposal. “He tells her to come and see a photo exhibition in which his brother is participating.
“The champagne will be ready, and then they can see the 30 ‘souvenir photos’ that Drew decorated with for their special night,” Kean said.
According to Kean, Hosler is an account manager at a supply chain company, and Rohde, originally from Columbus, is a teacher at an elementary school.
“This event is such a special occasion,” Kean said. “I am honored to organize the event and definitely add it to the ‘plus’ part of my business model. “
Kean is a renowned professional glass artist and as such gift the couple with one of her own beveled glass snowflakes as a memento for the evening.
After the proposal, the couple returned to Hosler’s parents for another surprise – a family reunion with Rohde’s family included.
