Islington’s Whitecross Street has once again brightened up with its latest generation of street art for 2022.
The Whitecross Street Party (WXSP) took place July 9-10, featuring live painting and entertainment.
It featured artists from leading female street art group WOM Collective, a new world record piece from Perspicere, a new piece from Voyder and a collaboration between Bristol superstars Piro, Epok and Eko.
WXSP is inspired by the history of the area, including Bunhill Cemetery where 19th-century Mavericks like the free-thinking painter and poet William Blake are buried.
“Today’s Mavericks, in the form of Britain’s finest street artists, descend on Whitecross Street to paint live every year, bringing a socially conscious, rebellious and people-centred vibe that is at the heart of the event,” organizers said.
Whether during the weekday market (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) to quieter hours, gigantic new works of art can now be seen on the walls of businesses and homes.
