Community to shape public art in upgraded Gippsland Line stations


Contributions from local communities will inspire new public works of art to be incorporated into the designs of the station upgrades delivered as part of the Gippsland Line upgrade.

Locals and passengers are invited to take a short survey on the look and feel of artwork at Bunyip, Longwarry, Morwell and Traralgon stations.

Give your opinion via our online survey before 5 p.m. on Friday, November 12.

Four key themes identified by those completing the survey will be provided to artists to guide their submissions to the project.

The resulting public works of art installed as part of the project will become important elements for the community, residents and visitors.

Rail Projects Victoria works with artists and regional communities to deliver creative works as part of its projects, including the upgrade of the Gippsland line.

The proven benefits of including creative works in rail infrastructure projects include:

  • create welcoming spaces and destinations
  • improve people’s experiences when traveling in the region
  • foster community and cultural identity and create a positive civic heritage.
